On March 9th, to commemorate International Women’s Day, Amnesty International Group 1023 gathered at the San Francisco Embarcadero Plaza to get attention and support for women’s human rights activists currently imprisoned in Iran. We asked people to sign the postcards that we had prepared for Narges Mohammadi and Zeynab Jalalian and were able to collect around 296 postcards that day. Seeing so many people supporting and appreciating brave Iranian women was heartening.
On March 31, to mark the commencement of the Persian New Year, aka Nowruz, we set up a table at Vasona Park in Los Gatos, CA with postcards for eight prisoners on the Amnesty International list: Fariba Kamalabadi, Mahvash Sabet, Nargess Mohammadi, Zaynab Jalalian, Toomaj Salehi, Niulofar Bayani, Vahid Afkari, and Ahmad Reza Jalali. We gathered many postcards and raised a lot of awareness.
